
If you are a Muslim Convert
Syariah Implication: If you die without a will, your non-Muslim relatives including your non-Muslim parents, are not entitled to your estate under faraidh. You can, however, bequeath up to 1/3 of your estate to your non-Muslim relatives in your will.The remaining 2/3 will be distributed according to faraidh as follows:
- If you are not married, the balance goes to Baitul Mal.
- If you have a wife and no children, your wife gets 1/4 and the balance goes to Baitul Mal.
- If you have a husband and no children, your husband gets 1/2 and the balance goes to Baitul Mal.
- If you have a wife and a daughter, your wife gets 1/8, your daughter gets 1/2 and the balance goes to Baitul Mal.
- If you have a wife, son and daughter, your wife gets 1/8, your children get the balance, with your son getting twice the share of your daughter.
